Materials

Advancements in materials engineering, mining, chemistry and alloying help drive innovation. A clear case of this was the development of a cheap way to produce neon gas around 1900. Once this material became cheaper, Claude was able to invent the neon lamp we use today. We’ve highlighted a few important materials using reference pages below and our Minerals in our Electrical World program.
